Public Hearing Notice

There will be a public hearing on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 7:30 pm at the Homer Township Hall, 522 N Homer Road, Midland, Michigan for the purpose of the Homer Township Planning Commission to receive public input on the proposed “special use permit for Paul Phillips 873 Rosewood Blvd Midland, MI 48640 (parcel # 040-670-500-090-00) to obtain a FFL license in a residential area for a consulting and R&D business” copies of the proposed o are available for public review at the Homer Township Hall. Written comments should be mailed to Homer Township Hall, 522 N Homer Road, Midland, Michigan, 48640 and addressed to Chairperson, Planning Commission and must be received prior to the meeting time/date. All interested persons may attend and participate. Persons with disabilities needing assistance to participate should call the Homer Township Clerk at 989-631-4399, 48 hours in advance to identify accommodations needed.

Planning Commission Positions Open

The Planning Commission is seeking 2 new members to fill seats that will be vacated by 12/31/17. The major duties of the Planning Commission are the development/review/revision of the the Township Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance. They also review site plans, special use permits, and provide input for general township ordinances. Potential members are interviewed by the Planning Commission which then recommends a candidate to the township board for appointment. The Planning Commission consists of 7 members who must represent the major interests of the township, such as agriculture, recreation, business, education, etc. and should be geographically distributed throughout the township. All members except 1 must be qualified township electors. Commission members serve 3 year terms. The Planning Commission Bylaws are available on the township website as are the minutes of current and past planning meetings and the yearly meeting schedule of dates and times.

Homer Township History

Homer Township History is now available on the township website under the History of Homer Township heading. This History was compiled by Rollin Yeakle, the township historian. It traces the development of the township including people, events, structures in much more detail including handwritten documents and pictures.
